f. Not Rightly Discerning the Body of Christ
- 1 Cor 11:27-31
- Don’t discern Body when
- A. Don’t recognize the blood (for sin) and body (for sickness and infirmity)
- B. Don’t recognize our need for the rest of the Body (other believers)
- C. Have something against someone in the body (church/fellowship)
- D. Don’t see the whole Church as one (i.e. dismiss certain denominations as not a part of the whole body in the city – i.e. there is one church, meeting in many locations)
g. Sick for God’s Glory
- God is glorified when lame walked and blind saw Mt 15:30-31
h. Thorn in the Flesh
- 2 Cor 12:1-12 – not sickness but a messenger of Satan

- unbelief Mt 17:19-20; Mark 6:1-6
b. Not Bridling the Tongue
- power of life and death are in the tongue
- Prov 4:20-23
- Murmuring and complaining Ps 78:18-20 18, ”And they tested God in their heart by asking for the food of their fancy. 19,”Yes, they spoke against God: They said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness? 20,”Behold, He struck the rock, So that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He provide meat for His people?” And, v 32-33 32, “In spite of this they still sinned, and did not believe in His wondrous works.” 33,”Therefore their days He consumed in futility, and their years in fear.

4. Practical Roadblocks
a. Intellectualism – secular worldview, doesn’t make sense to natural mind, goes against science
b. Prosperity – we have it too easy, can buy everything we need, like the Laodiceans
c. Looking to Man rather than God – Doctors, medicine (one does not have a headache because of a Tylenol deficiency)
d. Other people’s example – Job, Joni Erickson
e. Lack of desperation, desire and perseverance – hanging on over the long haul, praying till the answer comes
f. Looking for the Spectacular – expecting feelings, sensations, trying to control other’s behaviour, looking for signs (John 4:48), example of Naaman (2 Kings 5:11)
g. Pride – healing on my terms, don’t look foolish
h. Poor Life Habits – even though God often heals you should change what you need to (example of removing amalgam fillings)
i. Focus on Self instead of God – relying on my experience instead of the Word of God, relying on world’s system
j. Fear – Job 3:25 – that which I greatly feared has come upon me.
